Army buddies Bob Wallace and Phil Davis form a successful song-and-dance duo following World War II. After meeting singing sisters Betty and Judy Haynes, all four end up at a Vermon inn owned by General Waverly, their former commanding officer. Bob and Phil want to help the general keep the inn afloat, but misunderstandings and romantic entanglements cause friction, especially between Bob and Betty. With the help of their former military cohorts and a supportive chorus, the show is a success and the two couples find love amid a "White Christmas" finale.
