Beatrice and Benedick are tricked into declaring their love for each other, through the machinations of Hero and Ursula, Don Pedro and Claudio, along with Beatrice’s uncles Leonato and Antonio. In a darker subplot, Don John uses deceit to convince Claudio that Hero is untrue, causing him to rebuff her before their wedding. Dogberry and the local watch help resolve the disputes, and at the end all join in a dance to celebrate the weddings of Benedick and Beatrice, and Claudio and Hero.
