William Shakespeare’s classic romantic comedy follows the entanglement of two sets of lovers, Hermia & Lysander and Helena & Demetrius, who find themselves in the fairy-infested woods outside of Athens. A group of rough mechanicals, including Nick Bottom and Peter Quince, are also in the woods, preparing a play to celebrate the marriage between Theseus and Hippolyta. Oberon, king of the fairies, is angry with his fairy queen Titania, and merry prankster Puck plays a trick on her; transforming Bottom into an ass, making her fall in love with the monster. In the end, all is mended as the couples are reunited, and the marriages are celebrated with a performance of “Pyramis and Thisbe”.
